Author Interview with Megan O'Russell
Today we have Author Megan O'Russell with us. Let's find out more about Megan's writing and her books!
Tell us a few things about yourself that our readers would like to know.
Besides being an author, I’m actually a professional actor. I mostly work in musical theatre. Performing has taken me from Florida to Alaska, and right now I’m on the national tour of The Wizard of Oz.
Tell us what your books are about.
My series with Fiery Seas, , is a mid-apocalyptic Sci-Fi with chemically induced vampires. It’s a YA with some definite romance and lot of danger and blood, but if you dig deeper than the vampires and werewolves, it’s really about seeing the end of the world from the point of view of the upper one percent. asks the question if those around you are suffering, what is your obligation of aid?
What are your writing plans for the future?
The second book in the Girl of Glass series, Boy of Blood, is coming out April 10th! Other than that, I have two other continuing series How I Magically Messed Up Life in Four Freakin’ Days and The Girl Without Magic, both of which are in the YA fantasy genre.
Who is the most supportive of your writing in your family?
My husband. Besides helping me brainstorm concepts and problem solve within plots, he also runs my website MeganORussell.com, is my preliminary editor, and reads all my books aloud so I can make sure the words flow. He does a lot.
When you were young, did you ever see writing as a career or full-time profession?
Very much so, but I never really considered being an author as a career for me. I decided I wanted to be an actor when I was three, so there really never were other options considered. I didn’t start to think about being an author as a career until about six years ago.
Writers are often believed to have a Muse, your thoughts on that?
I mean… sure. I play pretend on stage, and then I write pretend on my computer. Basically, I spend 90% of my life living in an imaginary world.
Do you have a day job other than being a writer? And do you like it? Does your day job ever get in the way of your writing?
My day job is being an actor, and I love it. My ultimate goal is to be a full-time writer who performs. I would love to have the ability to pick and choose which shows I accept and be able to travel to writers’ conferences and the like. Not being able to attend conventions and conferences is the one way that my acting career really gets in the way of being an author. Actors don’t get weekends off, so it’s very rare that I can make any in person appearances.
Do you reply back to your fans and admirers personally?
Absolutely. Whether they reach out to me through email, my website, Goodreads, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc., I will always personally answer back. So feel free to reach out!
Do you need to be in a specific place or room to write, or you can just sit in the middle of a café full of people and write?
I live on a tour bus at the moment, so I’ll take writing space wherever I can get it. I write in my bus seat a lot, in my dressing room at the different venues, in my hotel rooms… I’ll take whatever I can get.
If you could live anywhere in the world, which country would you choose and why?
Northern Ireland along the coast with a winter home on Sanibel Island in Florida. Both are amazing locations that I adore, and I love the water!

Two worlds...one glass wall...no turning back.
The human race has been divided. The chosen few live in the safety of the domes, watching through their glass walls as those left on the outside suffer and die. But desperation has brought invention, and new drugs have given the outsiders the strength to roam the poisoned night unafraid – but it comes at a price.
Seventeen-year-old Nola Kent has spent her life in the domes, being trained to protect her little piece of the world that has been chosen to survive. The mission of the domes is to preserve the human race, not to help the sick and starving. But when outsider Kieran Wynne begs for Nola’s help in saving an innocent life, she is drawn into a world of darkness and danger. The suffering on the other side of the glass is beyond anything Nola had imagined, and turning her back on the outside world to return to the safety of the domes may be more than she can stand. Even when her home is threatened by the very people Nola wants to help.
