What does the New Year mean to you?

We all have different things that get us excited, but what does the start of a New Year mean to you?

I have to say that for me it is endlessly possibilities. It is the excitement of planning out new goals (both personal and business related). It is the excitement of a new way of doing things and a clean planner that is just waiting for my ideas, plans, and whatever else I decide to put in it.

So, what does 2018 hold for me...or better yet what am I doing to get this New Year started?

I have set out on a new way of getting all of my tasks, events, travel, and more in one place. If you could have seen all the to-do-lists that I had in 2017. They were everywhere and well...I'd rather not repeat that way. So, this time around I'm working on a new (and for me exciting) way to have everything I need in one place. I'm venturing into Dot Journaling and HERE is the book that I picked up on vacation (Yes, I'm a nerd) to learn how to go about this new way of keeping up. If you know me, then you know that I'm a huge planner (Yes, I know I have a problem).

When I had some downtime (laughs at this, because I normally don't know what that is) I did some reading in my vacation book. I have a few people that would be rolling their eyes at this statement because that is one sad vacation book...right? Wrong...at least for me. Here is why:

1) I am super excited about what 2018 holds for Fiery Seas and for me personally.

2) I knew I wanted a new way to keep up with everything because I'm a very busy person that always has multiple things going on at once. (Right now, I have many things going on. Writing this blog post, phones that are going off for different things, many tabs open at once, etc...) This is why I need everything in one place so that I can easily access a list or make a new one for whatever is going on. That is one of the things that made this new way of doing things appealing to me.

3) I don't want to miss anything. With Dot Journaling I can keep up with everything that is going on. New things I try, travel, family memories, business ideas, meetings, etc... And if I want to go back and look at something, I can. It will all be there for me to see. Plus, I get to check all those completed tasks and accomplishments. This is a big thing for me! Sometimes I don't feel very productive, when in reality I have really gotten lots done. Being able to see it in front of me will be wonderful.

4) I don't know about you, but I can never find the perfect planner that fits all my needs. That is one reason I have so many lists that get written. Plus, I have a big family. A house full of kids with activities, travel, work, fitness, meal planning, and the list goes on. This year I will be able to make my planner to fit MY needs, not me trying to make a store bought planner work for everything.

5) I get to be creative! I took the time to think about what type of journal to start with for 2018. I decided to just go simple and get a lined hardback journal to start the year with. This will give me time to decide what is working and what is not working for me and the best part...I can change things the way I need them. Have you seen the nerd in me come out yet?

Now, you have seen a little bit of what I do to start a New Year. I have started setting up my journal and I'm filling in varies events, tasks, plans, goals, and more. What about you? What gets you excited? How do you plan or make goals?
